Graduate student courses

Various courses have been run for graduate students, and there have also been master classes by researchers visiting The Australian National University. While they all focused in i2S, or elements of i2S, they were labelled in various ways.

The following graduate student courses have been run:

1. Integrating Knowledge for Health and Society

A master class by Professor Linda Neuhauser on Integrating Knowledge for Health and Society was run for Australian National University graduate students on 24 October 2007 (course description – 16KB PDF).

2. Introduction to Research Integration for Knowledge and Action

An Introduction to Research Integration for Knowledge and Action: A Short Course for Graduate Students, which was run on 8-9 September 2008.

3. Participatory Scenarios as a Tool for Planning Climate Change Adaptation

A master class by Dr Polly Ericksen on Participatory Scenarios as a Tool for Planning Climate Change Adaptation was run for Australian National University graduate students on 7 May 2009 (course description – 44KB PDF).

4. Methods of Knowledge Integration in Inter- and Trans-disciplinary Research

A course entitled Methods of Knowledge Integration in Inter- and Trans-disciplinary Research was run at the Universität für Bodenkultur Wien (University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna) in June 2012. The course was run as part of the dokNE (Doctoral School Sustainable Development) and was also open to other students. The 16 alumni used insights from the course in undertaking their PhD projects. The course was run over six days, based on reading, lectures and group work (146KB PDF) and was evaluated highly by participants (76KB PDF).
